9 Best AI Writers of 2023 (Ranked & Reviewed)
Learn how to use AI to generate content and what are the dos and don’ts with AI.
Back in 2020, AI writing wasn’t a thing. You only had Grammarly which fixes typos and corrects badly formatted sentences.
But thanks to the rapid developments in AI and publicly available language processing models (GPT-3 and ChatGPT), there’s now a vast ocean of AI writing software. These tools vary from basic grammar improvers to tools that generate entire blog posts.
Right off the bat, I must tell you the bad news: None of today’s AI tools are yet capable of producing blog posts that rank high.
The AI writer tools still need human intervention. So you need to treat them as AI assistants, not autopilots.
But the good news is that AI writers can already automate parts of your writing workflows. You can generate ideas, outlines, emails, song lyrics, and much more.
Also, the AI writing potential is huge and in the next couple of years, these AI writers might write like seasoned bloggers.
Without further ado, let me introduce you to the best AI writing software. I ran some extensive tests on these tools. You will find the complete reviews of each tool in tools in each section of this story.

1. Jasper
Jasper is the #1 writing tool on the market.
I believe this tool will one day be like Photoshop for image editing. Every content creator must know how to use it to keep up with the competition.
Jasper has the AI powers to generate blog posts, emails, outlines, song lyrics, or even images from scratch. All you need to do is give it some input and the AI takes care of the rest.
But don’t get carried away by the hype. As I mentioned, you need to treat AI writers like your little assistants. If you use Jasper to generate blog posts, you need to do fact-checking and original research to actually provide value to your readers.
Make sure to read my complete guide/review of Jasper:
2. ChatSonic
ChatSonic is the best ChatGPT application I’ve encountered.
In case you don’t know what ChatGPT is, don’t worry. It’s a powerful AI language model (and it’s actually included on this list later on).
Anyway, ChatSonic is a chatbot you can ask anything. The standout feature of ChatSonic is that it knows events past 2021, unlike most AI writers. You can ask it about your local weather and it will likely produce a result that is accurate.
ChatSonic can also generate images. You can send it a message like “Generate an image of Cristiano Ronaldo playing soccer” and you’ll get an impressive and unique image back in 5 seconds.
Make sure to read my full review of ChatSonic with lots of example use cases, ideas, and overall thoughts:
3. Rytr
Earlier, I introduced you to Jasper, the #1 writing tool on the market.
But for some of you, the pricing of Jasper might not look appealing, though. If you're looking for a great Jasper alternative, I recommend trying Rytr.
Rytr has the most features and capabilities that Jasper has. But the main difference is that Rytr costs a fraction of Jasper!
Rytr has a simple workflow. Just pick a use case and give it some input and let the AI take care of the rest.

4. WordTune
Thus far you’ve seen a bunch of all-in-one AI writing assistants. But none of these tools really focus on one aspect of writing.
Enter WordTune, one of the best Grammarly alternatives on the market.
WordTune is both an online text editor as well as a Chrome extension. The Chrome extension works wherever you work. It analyzes your writing be it emails, blog posts, or any other form of online writing. WordTune gives you suggestions about your writing as you go. It corrects sentences with a single click of a button.

5. QuillBot
As another great Grammarly alternative, let me introduce you to QuillBot. QuillBot is a writing assistant that solely focuses on paraphrasing or rewriting your content.
If you’re not happy with a sentence or section of your writing, you can rewrite it with QuillBot’s AI.
QuillBot has a couple of paraphrasing modes from formal to creative. It can also summarize your writing as well as expand it.
The tool is easy to use and all you need to do is write something, highlight it, and let QuillBot’s AI take care of the rest.
I ran some extensive tests on QuillBot the other day. Make sure to read my thoughts and example use cases by reading my complete QuillBot review:

7. Jenni.ai
Jenni.ai is one of the simplest AI writing tools out there. Jenni is basically just an online text editor with AI capabilities.
You can ask Jenni to complete your sentences to create high-quality content, such as emails, blog posts, or even song lyrics.
In a sense, Jenni is just a simpler version of Jasper without all the bells and whistles.
If you want to start using AI in your writing the easiest way possible, you might want to experiment with Jenni!

8. ChatGPT
ChatGPT is not necessarily an AI writing tool. Instead, it’s an AI writing algorithm developed by OpenAI.
This language model was released in Dec 2022 and gained a bunch of hype as the model can seemingly outperform bloggers and programmers.
Better yet, ChatGPT is currently available as a free beta via OpenAI’s web UI.
And when it comes to developers, ChatGPT has an API. This means any tech-oriented reader can implement their own AI writing assistant using ChatGPT superpowers in no time.
Many AI writing tools actually use ChatGPT behind the scenes. For example, ChatSonic (earlier on this list) uses ChatGPT to power its chatting service.
Just remember that ChatGPT is not perfect! It makes a ton of mistakes, repeats itself, and isn’t capable of conducting original research. So when it comes to bringing value to your writing, the responsibility is in your hands, not the AI’s.

9. AI Writer
Last but not least, let’s talk about AI Writer. As the name suggests, this tool is focused on generating content using AI.
Unlike other tools on this list, AI Writer’s main feature is to produce a blog post, essay, or news article in one go instead of doing it in multiple steps.
Although I think with today’s AI generating an entire article in one go isn’t particularly useful, some of you might find interesting use cases for such AI writing tools.
Just be prepared to wait! It took me 10 minutes to get the first AI-generated output with the free version.

Conclusion
To take home, AI is capable of producing unique and well-written content at lightning speed. The tools on this list are in my opinion the best examples of using AI in a clever and time-saving fashion.
Just remember to treat AI as your assistant. AI makes a ton of writing mistakes. Sometimes the tools repeat themselves and sometimes they are simply wrong. Nonetheless, the responsibility is in your hands. Make sure to always provide value with your content!
Thanks for reading. Happy experimenting with AI!
